Expungement Fair Seeks Volunteers
The South Central Workforce Development Board and the Workforce Partners are sponsoring an Expungement Fair on Oct. 25 -- it was originally set for Sept. 20 -- at the Warren County Justice Center. The program is designed to help to job applicants remove a prior criminal history.
Attorneys are sought to volunteer for the Fair and can contact Sarah Bessinger at the Warren County Attorney’s Office at 270-782-2760 or by email at sarah.bessinger@ky.gov. Please RSVP by Friday, Sept. 8.
Scheduled time slots for volunteers are 9:15-11:30, 11:00-1:30, and 1:30-4:00, and lesser time commitments can be accomodated. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. Attorneys will need to bring a laptop for access to Courtnet. Paper forms will be provided.
The South Central Workforce Development Board is also seeking volunteers for a pre-screening event scheduled on Tuesday, Sept. 26 from 6pm-8pm at the Warren County Justice Center, Courtroom D. Please RSVP by Friday, Sept. 15.
The goal of the fair is to provide one-on-one guidance about the expungement process. The first task will be to determine whether an applicant is eligible; and if so, the attorney may assist the applicant in the filing process. Attorney work will be pro bono. Attendees may be in various stages of the expungement process, and there will be specific tracks to streamline the process as much as possible.
