Local Bar Rings the Bell
It was a team effort. Under the watchful eye of attorney Jim Harris, the Bowling Green-Warren County bar manned five locations on Dec. 12 for Salvation Army. The bar effort produced 28 bell ringers who brought in $2,297.74 for the day.
The volunteers were, in alphabetical order: Kenly Ames, Katie Bennett, Mike Bishop, Julie Burklow, Heather Coleman, Matt Cook, Dana Sanson, Dick Downey, Steve Downey, Tim Edelen, Doug Gott, Richard Hartsock, Lindsay Hinton, Tom Hulsey, Sarah Payne Jarboe, Harvey Johnston, Lauren Marley, Hamp Moore III, Margaret Peters, Park Priest, Whayne C. Priest, Jr., Ryan Reed, Nancy Oliver Roberts, Sheila Rutherford, Maryellen Self, Maria Stewart, Greg Stivers and Jessica Surber.
Several of the volunteers had children or spouses with them.
“When you thank them, ask them about their experience,” Harris said via email. “Even though it got quite cold, I bet they will tell of the wonderful and warm feeling they had during and after their shift ended. I am quite proud of our bar and of these volunteers who did so much to help those less fortunate than us.”
